Hi, I'm Nichole chirico

The first time I ever sat on a horse I was 6 months old, so it's safe to say horses have been a major part of my entire life. As a kid I spent a majority of my time on the AQHA show circuit where I competed in all-around events, before heading to Oklahoma State University as a scholarship rider on their equestrian team where I earned a degree in journalism and broadcasting.
After graduating college, I was able to combine my love of horses with my love of journalism and landed the assistant editor position at Horse&Rider Magazine. Ten years later I'm still with Horse&Rider but am now the Editor-in-Chief and Content Director for the entire brand.
When I'm not traveling the country to write, photograph, and produce content with some of the industry's top western professionals, I love picking up the camera and photographing anything and everything that has to do with horses.
Speaking of horses, my true love is my Quarter Horse mare Keira, aka Lucky Vintage Chic. And boy is she a lucky one! As a 3-year-old Keira required two colic surgeries that left her with 70% of her colon missing. After her second surgery, we weren't sure she'd make it past the seven-day mark, but fortunately she pulled through and now we are working toward getting into the reining pen this year. She is my heart horse and I love talking about her any chance I can!

I'm also super fortunate to have a husband who appreciates the horse industry, even though he's not a horse guy. We have two dogs, Ghost and Cirice, and when I'm not dragging him to horse shows, we spend our time hiking in the mountains with the dogs or enjoying a bottle of wine.
If I'm not talking about horses, I'm probably talking about the most recent book I'm reading. I love anything fantasy–especially when it involves a cool female lead character!
